Thelma Gray, Wedding Coordinator
Kerry and Jon Thomas Testimonial
In two words, our wedding was 'pure perfection!'
Just over a year ago, Jon and I were engaged. While discussing all the different options, we began investigating what a destination wedding would provide us with. Thankfully, our friends, Dan and Cindy Bohen, we married at Silver Sands, with Thelma's help, two years prior. After pouring over the Bohen's wedding scrapbook and pictures, and listening to their stories of how wonderful their wedding was, we decided to do the same. I contacted Thelma almost immediately and we began our planning - one year before the wedding date. Thelma was a tremendous help in the early stages as we changed wedding date, numbers of guests, etc.
I found it incredible that we could plan a wedding, all via email, and have it still meet our expectations. Thelma far exceeded anything we could have even dreamed of.
We managed to sort out the location, date, time, flowers, food, music, pictures, etc. all via email correspondence. When we arrived in Jamaica, we met with Thelma at our villa in Silver Sands. She was incredibly accommodating, bringing Dr. Fletcher (our minister) to us, along with not only the DJ (to discuss our music selections), but even two nail technicians the day of the wedding! Everything was done at Sea Spray, our villa, we didn't ever have to leave the resort to plan! She scheduled all the meetings around our availability and never once did we feel we were missing out on our vacation to deal with wedding issues. Truly, this was the most stress-free event I could ever imagine.
We brought 50 people to Jamaica (including ourselves) for a week of fun and relaxation at Silver Sands before ending in our wedding. We were married on the Jetty, and while it was a windy day, the flowers managed to stay put (I'm still not sure how Thelma got those all tied down). It was the perfect setting, us in the gazebo with Dr. Fletcher, and our guests, surrounded by an incredible backdrop and listening to the most amazing steel drum band! After the ceremony, and pictures were taken, we had our reception on the lawn of Rum Jetty. There was a huge tent to accommodate all the tables and a smaller tent to cover the food.
The tables were exquisite all covered (including the chairs) in white linens and the most beautiful pedestal flower arrangements. The food was simply amazing, though, nothing could compare to the pineapple and coconut cake. It was honestly the best cake I've ever eaten and I'm looking forward to next year so I can defrost the topper! After dinner, we had dancing in the living room of Rum Jetty. While it was exceptionally warm that evening, everyone got out and enjoyed themselves. I remember telling many of the guests how we wouldn't have changed a thing, that we wouldn't have had our wedding any other way - everyone agreed, it was just a tremendous night. Thelma provided us with an opportunity to mix a traditional wedding with a destination setting. We didn't have the stress that goes along with planning a large wedding at home, but did not have the "drive through" wedding we would have experienced in, say Las Vegas or an all-inclusive type resort. Again, it was pure perfection.
Thank you Thelma for making our wedding day the most memorable event for not only us, but for our guests as well. We heard, repeatedly, "thank you for having your wedding here." You created a wedding that was all within our budget and made it fabulous. Our day was magical and we owe you a debt of gratitude for giving us these unbelievable and warm memories that will last our lifetime.
Kindest Regards,
Kerry and Jon Thomas
