What
Lots of fun! Thrilling! Exhilarating! But not dangerous. This tour is suitable for the whole family, and you will be reassured by the competent, certified guides who accompany you all tthe way down the Rio Bueno River. The tour starts with you being kitted out with helmets and buoyancy aids. Safety is emphasised - the guides will check your kit. You choose either inflatable tubes or kayaks and stroll through the forest and along the bank of the river to the starting point. This walk offers your first taste of the amazing jungle you'll be flowing through, with thick trees and vines lining the hillside and banks and the beautiful flowing river. The walk also involves crossing a sturdy rope and wood bridge, like you see in the movies. At the head of the river, you’ll be greeted by the sight of a beautiful multi-layered waterfall and plunge pools.
Guests who are tubing will hold onto each other, while your guide leads you safely down the river, giving you a push here and there if you want to go faster! The river offers just the right level of excitement without the risk of being tossed out of your ring. Your guide is there to navigate you past any rocks. Lean back, relax and bask in the amazing Jamaican scenery while you float downstream.
Kayaking is the choice for the more active and fit. Perfect for running over rapids and the oars allow you to pick up pace while you twist and turn. The penultimate rapids are particularly gnarly and great fun.
The final leg of your journey will be on a sturdy raft, zipping along the remaining section of river with you and your guide paddling. Exciting and safe. Your Rio Bueno ride ends on a beach where there are some outdoor showers and miraculously - your Mysilversands driver and air conditioned transport!
How
- Open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed on Jamaican Public Holidays.
- Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. Wear sneakers/trainers, walking shoes, or water shoes.
- Carry a very small bag for your camera, cash, etc.
- Maximum weight is 280 pounds/127 kilograms.
- Minimum age is 4 years old. Small chidren must be held in responsible adult's lap.
- Not permitted for persons who are pregnant, persons with back problems, or other serious medical conditions. Guests should have a moderate fitness level.
- The tour requires a minimum number of guests and is weather dependent. Should the tour be cancelled due to minimum requirement or bad weather, a full refund or rescheduling will be offered.
- Guests may cancel for a full refund by giving at least one clear day's notice. For example, if your tour is booked for Wednesday, you may cancel any time up to the Monday. If you cancel the day before, Tuesday, you will not receive a refund.
