And there it was! The first waterfall. At the end of a small cave, it came down from the rocks above the cavern with a shaft of light illuminating its fall into a shallow pond. I couldn't resist dipping my hands into the clear water and splashing my face. It was surprisingly very cold, but just the right thing after that strenuous climb down into the cavern.
The water flowed from this pond into a stream, narrow enough and shallow enough that I could step over rocks and cross to the other side. The stream filled a very small mini dam a few yards away where there was an old pump house. This water was pumped up and out of this cavern to supply the farm.
The pond fed by this waterfall flows out into a shallow stream (right) to the mini dam.
