Mo Bay Jerk Festival For 1 August 2011
The first day of August will kick start with the Gleaner-sponsored MoBay Jerk festival. The festival will also stimulate the entertainment appetite of the people and see the participation of Chris Martin and the newly crowned Magnum King Hurricane at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre. The 'Paper Loving' reggae sensation will spearhead the festival.
The festival will provide a platform for upcoming musicians to showcase their talents and show their range. This is a family event which will help them to customize their items accordingly, while entertaining their fans.
The MoBay Jerk Festival will operate under the theme ‘'Bring Back the Culture’, and will see elements of cultural traditions such as Jonkonno, drumming and dances that are reminiscent of 'old time Jamaica'.
The day and night family event will also see performances by fast-raising dancehall star T'Nez as well as Nazine and gospel artistes Omari and Jabez. Montego Bay's own Quata Blann. Dancing Dynamites' Target Dancers are also booked to appear at the festival.
With family events few in Montego Bay for the summer, the organisers of MoBay Jerk Festival wanted to fill that void.
Montego Bay is at a convenient distance from Silver Sands resort and guests who wish to enjoy the Jerk food festival can also explore its beaches and spend time at the vibrant ‘Hip Strip.’
