Jamaica's Tourism Facilities Operating Normally Despite Heavy Rains
According to the Jamaica Tourist Board, the island’s tourism facilities are operating as usual in spite of storms and heavy rain today. Both airports, Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay and Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, also remain open and operational.
Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is monitoring the situation regarding today’s extreme weather conditions, and a flash flood warning is currently in effect.
The Jamaica Tourist Board has urged all Jamaica accommodation, attractions, and other tourism-related entities to take appropriate precautions in anticipation of possible impact by the storm, and to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests.
Guests staying in Silver Sands Jamaica can take advantage of the various indoor facilities provided when there are rains including indoor games, TV, CD/DVD players and books. Although widespread power outages are affecting the island, Villa Mart grocery and gift store in Silver Sands has a standby generator that is keeping it open and keeping all guests supplied with food and drink.
Guests at Endless Summer, Primrose Path and Windjammer are smiling as these homes have their own standby electric power plants.
