Season of Dance 2010 with the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica
The National Dance Theatre Company (NDTCJ) celebrates the Season of Dance festival from July 30 to August 29, 2010.
NDTCJ was established in 1962, the year when the country got its Independence from the British, with the aim of promoting the island’s culture.
NDTCJ, Jamaica’s internationally celebrated dance company specializes in creative dancing and explores all traditional and modern dance forms. It blends together the folklore music and dance of Jamaica, Africa and the American South with modern and classic dance forms to present a colourful celebration of the West Indian culture.
The dancers, singers and musicians bring alive stories, dramatize rituals and even portray pantomimes.
The festival coincides with the Independence Day celebrations being held this week in Jamaica. The guests of Silver Sands Jamaica can enjoy a special party arranged on 6 August on the beach to mark this memorable day. The venue will be decorated in the colours of the Jamaican flag. DJ Tyrone will perform. As part of the festivities, special Jamaican food and drinks will also be served.
