Severe Winter Conditions In Europe - Good For Jamaica

The extreme weather conditions in Europe have increased the interest in Jamaica and many Jamaican rental communities are witnessing a rise in the number of enquiries for booking accommodation.

Severe weather conditions have grounded many flights since the weekend, trapping many passengers travelling to Jamaica and other countries. However airport operators in the UK are making all possible efforts to return operations to normal as soon as possible.

Meanwhile the Tourism Ministry in Jamaica has reported a record start to the winter tourist season quoting a figure of 17, 800 that arrived between December 18 and 20, via the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

According to the ministry, this is the largest arrival figure ever over a weekend in Montego Bay, coming as it is against the background of the cancellation of a number of flights.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett also said that they were expecting to generate 3,000 new jobs in the sector in the next three months.
