Couldn't Find A Flight? American Airlines Boosts Seats To Jamaica

American Airlines has launched three new weekly services from Chicago’s O’Hare to Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, taking the number of round-trip flights to five per week.

Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, John Lynch, has expressed his happiness at this development. He said that this meant that people now had extra options for “a long weekend or winter escape to enjoy our great beaches, exciting cultural attractions, wonderful food, and warm hospitality.”

The airlines will fly round-trip between Chicago and Montego Bay on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this winter. These flights are an addition to Jamaica service from American’s Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami hubs.

In the meanwhile, Jamaica too continues to add new tourism infrastructure and facilities to make visiting the destination more convenient, the latest being the opening of The Ian Fleming International Airport, the third international airport next month. The airport is located just five miles from Ocho Rios. Ian Fleming created the British secret service agent, James Bond, whose debut on the movie screen in "Dr. No" featured many scenes filmed in Jamaica. Jamaica was recognized as the leading destination in the Caribbean in the recently concluded World Travel Awards ceremony held at London on 7 November. Given the recent addition to the infrastructure and the curiosity generated by the awards that are considered to be the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’ Jamaica is hoping for a better winter tourism season despite the economic crisis.

Tourism director John Lynch also informed that the American Airlines is offering service out of Phoenix for the first time, and British Airways has resumed flights to Montego Bay since October.

Jamaica has already reported a 3.4 percent increase in tourist arrivals from January through June compared to the same period last year. Demand for rentals in Jamaica is at an all-time high given the fact that visitors are looking for more personalized experiences on the island at affordable costs and private Jamaican accommodation is proving ideal for their requirements.
